Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992 and began studying marine sciences at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard got her start in the industry of commercial seafood in the year 1999. At the time she worked as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut vessel, later converted into a fish tender. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999 and the two have joined to fight for their business. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith was created at the time of Philadelphia through Bella Bossard who is now mom to two boys with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and she is able to concentrate on her goals in terms of finances and environmental concerns. Bossard's children Isabella, age 12, and son Andre, age 10, return annually to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position throughout the salmon wild season. Hooks and lines are used to capture their salmon before joining Aritan for local processors for 2 months. They then continue to grow their direct seafood sale through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
